What does it mean to exist on the brink?

Archetypes on the brink of something

New ideas happen all the time. They announce themselves enthusiastically and the most persuasive ideas emit an exciting energy of possibility. For me this is the most attractive aspect of the relationship we have with creativity. This is the point at which something new is about to happen. I began to reflect on this when creating Brink Studio, asking the question…

What does it mean to exist on the brink of something?

In the experience between childhood and adulthood we find ourselves in a series of moments on the edge of something new. We occupy two worlds simultaneously yet we exist in the middle, neither child nor adult. In this space we yield the power to both create and destroy as we forge new worlds full of possibilities.

In adulthood, the same primal forces that permeate our subconscious bubble up in moments between worlds. They challenge our conscious self to consider something beyond our past experience. This can be at odds with what we know to be safe and comfortable. This space can be both magical and terrifying, yet necessary for our evolution.

In these infinite in-between moments, self destructive acts can emerge that leave scars which are carried throughout our lives. The healing of this tissue is the seed of our flowering in the world. Accepting the presence of these layers in all new moments brings possibilities for new creative acts. Acts that result in a profound connection to the vital source within us.

When we exist on the edge of something new we are in a moment of infinite potential. The brink is a realm of empowered choices where we create the new worlds we live in.

Brink Studio creates art that explores a universal inner experience from a modern urban perspective. Take a journey of reflection with Brink Studio original art.
