Hand made art
I love getting my hands covered in clay and paint. Creating hand made art using traditional techniques is like alchemy turning thoughts into objects.
All sculptures start life as a wire skeleton, sometimes known as an armature. This allows the figure to flex into the right position and play with proportions.
A primary mould is then made from the original sculpture. From this a primary sculpture is cast in resin. This cast is refined by filling and sanding.
Further production moulds are then made from the primary cast. From the production moulds the final pieces are cast using a mix of resin mixed with marble powder to give additional weight.
The pieces are cleaned, sanded, and primed with 2K primer which provides the perfect surface to paint or apply specialist finishes.
The primed sculptures act as small canvases where imagination is unleashed to explore themes that compliment the silhouette of the sculpture. Spray painting, hand painting, dipping, and coating… the sculpts take on a life of their own.
